55 Hammerheads participated in the Missouri Valley East District Championships meet February 11-13 in Platte City. There were 212 best times and 39 of the 55 swimmers returned to finals. Nineteen new Champs-Bonus cuts were picked up, 28 new Champs cuts were earned, and several swimmers advance to the Missouri Valley Championships next weekend because they placed in the top 2 for their age group.

Notable Swims

 

-Reagan Bollinger shaved over 7 seconds in her 100 Breast to return to finals and secure a Bonus cut. In her 200 Free, an over 12 second shave led to her 2nd place finish and new Champs time!

-Madeline Briggs cut almost 12 seconds in her 100 Fly which not only earned her a Champs time but a 1st place victory! She also earned a new Champs cut in her 2nd place finish in the 50 Fly. She also returned to finals in her 100 IM (new Bonus cut) and 50 Back.

-Logan Broek dropped over 11 seconds, earned a new Champs time and placed 1st in the 100 Back. He also returned to finals in his 200 Free and earned a new Champs time in that event.

-Claire Conrad returned to finals in her 200 Breast

-Elisa DeCaro returned to finals in her 100 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free and 200 Free. Her 2nd place finish in the 100 Back finals advances her to swimming next weekend at Champs.

-Claire Dierker dropped almost 19 seconds (wow!) in her 500 Free to earn her a Champs time in that event. She also returned to finals in her 200 Free.

-Isaac Dierker returned to finals in 7 events. In 2 events, he was not only victorious but he earned Champs times (400 IM and 200 Fly – after a 10+ second shave.) In 3 events he earned 2nd (100 Free, 200 Back and 200 Free) which advances him to Champs.

-Asher Gellis returned to finals in his 100 Breast

-Rowan Gellis returned to finals in her 100 Breast and 50 Breast

-Ricky Hoover returned to finals in 3 of his events (100 Fly, 200 Back and 200 Fly.) His 200 Fly finish earned him a new Champs time.

-Ava Hughbanks shaved almost 35 seconds to earn a Champs time and victory in her 500 Free. She also advances to Champs for her over 9 second shave, new cut and top 2 finish in her 200 IM. She also returned to finals and earned a new Bonus cut in her 100 Free.

-Jia Hurst returned to finals in the 200 IM and 100 IM

-Ava Johnson returned to finals and advances to Champs for her 2nd place finish in the 200 Fly

-Katie Jones returned to finals and advances to Champs for her 2nd place finish in the 100 Breast

-David Keightley returned to finals in 3 events: 100 Breast, 200 IM and 200 Free

-Megan Kindle returned to finals in 3 events: 200 Back, 200 Free and 200 Fly

-Olivia Kindle advances to Champs after her victories in the 200 IM and 50 Free

-Harmony Lucas returned to finals and earned a new Bonus cut in her 100 Back

-Jake Maiseroulle returned to finals in 6 events. In 2 of his events, not only did he place top 2 but he earned Champs times for his efforts (100 Back and 50 Free.) He also earned Champs times in 200 Free (after a 8.5 second shave!) and 100 Free. He also scored a Bonus time in his 100 Breast.

-Zach Mendez had himself a great meet – try and keep up! He returned to finals 7 times and won 5 of his events. Each of those 5 events earned him shiny new Champs times: 400 IM (21+ second drop), 100 Free, 200 IM, 200 Free (7+ second drop) and 200 Fly (13+ second drop.) He also picked up 2 new Bonus times in his 100 Fly and 50 Free.

-Teagan Mitchell returned to finals in 6 events and earned a Bonus cut for her 100 IM

-Evelyn Obenauf shaved almost 11 seconds in her 200 Free at finals.

-Emma Owen dazzled the crowd with an almost 33 second drop, a new Champs time and a victory in her 500 Free

-Joslyn Perry returned to finals in her 100 IM and her 2nd place finish secures her advancement to Champs next weekend. She also earned a new Bonus time in her 50 Free

-Maddie Prater dropped almost 9 seconds in her 200 Free

-Melanie Puszczak returned to finals in 4 of her events: 100 Breast, 200 IM, 100 Back and 200 Breast

-Raphael Realina returned to finals in his 5 events. In addition to his finals swims in 100 Free, 50 Free and 200 Free, he was victorious with a new Champs cut in his 1000 Free after shaving almost 18 seconds. He also advances to Champs for his 2nd place finish in the 100 Back.

-Kemper Roberts cut over 20 seconds to claim victory and a new Champs time in his 1000 Free

-Kennedy Roberts returned to finals in 5 events. In addition to swimming the 100 Breast, she earned a new Bonus time in her 50 Breast and 3 new Champs times in her 50 Back, 100 Back (2nd place!) and 50 Fly

-Kieran Ross returned to finals in 2 events: 100 Free and 100 IM. His 100 IM time earned him a new Bonus cut

-Oliver Sias returned to finals in 4 events. In addition to returning in his 200 IM, he swam 200 Back, 100 Back and 200 Free and earned Bonus cuts in those 3 events.

-Kai Soo returned to finals in 100 Breast and 100 Back. His 50 Free lead-off leg in the 200 Free Relay earned him a new Bonus time, too!

-Octavious Soriano shaved over 7 seconds in his 100 Back

-Cormac Waters returned to finals and earned Bonus times in 2 events: 100 Free and 50 Free. He also shaved over 9 seconds in his 100 Back

-Ronan Waters earned a Bonus cut for his 50 Free lead-off leg in the 200 Free Relay

-Neil Williams returned to finals in the 100 Breast

-Johnny Woodruff returned to finals in 4 events and advances to Champs in 3 of them: 200 Breast for his 2nd place finish and 200 IM and 200 Back – both of which he was not only victorious but he earned Champs times while doing so.

-Jacob Zupan shaved over 7 seconds in his 200 IM
