MV Champs - Open & Age Group

Missouri Valley Championships were held in Topeka, KS (Open) February 24-27 and Lenexa, KS (14&Under Age Group) March 3-6. NLU had 39 swimmers participate in both meets. There were 153 best times, 63 swims at finals, 5 new Sectional-Bonus cuts, 4 new Sectional cuts and 1 new Record!

Notable Swims

-Nick Bracken is headed to Sectionals with his new cut in 200 Fly after he returned to Finals in that event. He also shaved over 13 seconds in his 400 IM.

-Alex Briggs returned to Finals in 3 events (200 Fly, 100 Fly & 200 Free) and his Top Heat performance in his 200 Fly earned him a Silver medal at Finals. He also cut almost 19 seconds in his 500 Free!

-MaryBeth Clark returned to the top heat of both the 100 Fly (2^nd – Silver!) and 200 Fly (5^th!). She is the proud new owner of the team record in the 200 Fly – 2:11.88. Way to go MaryBeth!

-Elisa DeCaro was eligible to swim at both the Open & Age Group Champs

-Claire Dierker returned to Finals in the 200 Free

-Isaac Dierker returned to Finals in the 200 Fly and 200 Free

-Kimberley Greene returned to the top Heat of the 200 IM and earned 8th place. After an over 11 second drop, she grabbed 7^th at Finals in the 500 Free. She also returned in the 100 Fly and shaved over 8 seconds in her 200 Breast.

-Makaila Hayes was also eligible to swim at both the Open & Age Group Champs. At the Open Champs, she returned to Finals in 2 events: 200 Back and 200 Fly. At the Age Group Champs she returned to the Top Heat of the 100 Fly (8^th), 200 Breast (7^th), 50 Free (8^th), 200 IM (5^th) and 100 Free (6^th). She also returned to Finals in the 100 Back.

-Ricky Hoover returned to Finals in the 200 Fly

-Ava Hughbanks returned to Finals in 3 events: 100 Fly, 200 Free and 200 Fly (over 19 second drop!)

-Arielle Janssens cut over 9.5 seconds in her 500 Free

-Roman Lewis returned to Finals in 3 events: 200 IM, 200 Free and 100 Free

-Jake Maiseroulle shaved almost 10 seconds in his 200 Free

-Jacey McGraw shaved over 8.5 seconds in her 400 IM

-Zach Mendez shaved over 53 seconds (!!!!!) to earn 4^th place in his 1000 Free. He also cut over 28 seconds in his 500 Free

-Sarah Miner also swam in both Champs meets. She returned to Finals at the Open Champs in 200 Back, 200 Free and 500 Free. She also earned 5^th in the 1650 Free. At the Age Group Champs, she returned to the Top Heat of 200 Back (7^th), 200 Free (6^th) and 100 Back (6^th). She also returned to Finals in the 50 Free, 100 Free and 100 Breast.

-Leo Nguyen returned to the Top Heat of Finals in the 100 Fly (6^th) and 50 Fly (8^th)

-Sean Nguyen returned to Finals in 5 events: 200 IM, 50 Free, 100 IM, 50 Back and 100 Free

-Emma Owen returned to Finals in 2 events: 200 Fly (after an over 8 second drop) and 400 IM (after a 23.5+ second drop)

-Joslyn Perry returned to the Top Heat of Finals in the 100 Breast (7^th) and 50 Breast (6^th)

-Raphael Realina returned to Finals in 4 events: 200 IM, 400 IM, 100 Breast and 200 Breast. He shaved over 10.5 seconds in his 400 IM to earn a Sectionals-Bonus cut and his 200 Breast time earned him his first Sectionals time!

-Kemper Roberts returned to Finals after an over 9.5 second shave in his 200 Breast. He also shaved over 10 seconds in his 400 IM and over 7 seconds in his 500 Free.

-Kennedy Roberts returned to Finals in her 100 Back

-Jack Stanley returned to Finals in his 200 Back and picked up a new Sectionals-Bonus cut in that event.

-Hannah Stewart returned to Finals and picked up Sectionals-Bonus cuts in the following events: 100 Free, 50 Free and 200 Free. Her swim at Finals in the 200 IM earned her a Sectionals time!

-Isaac Stewart returned to the Top Heat of Finals in the 50 Free (6^th) and 100 Free (5^th). He also returned in the 200 Free and 50 Breast. He earned 6^th after his over 11 second shave in the 500 Free.
