Champs Re-cap
Missouri Valley Championships were held in Lenexa, KS July 28-31. NLU had 24 swimmers earn 91 best times, 54 swims at finals (11 & Overs), 14 Top 16 finishes by our 10&Unders, 3 new Champs cuts and 6 new records! (Please note that with the conversions with long course & short course the reports and Meet Mobile appear with major adds or drops in time that aren’t accurate. Notable swims will not reflect shaves of over 8 seconds like recaps normally do.)

Notable Swims
- MaryBeth Clark earned her final record for NLU with a 2:29.02 in the 200 Fly. She earned 2nd in that event and she was victorious in her 100 Fly. She was also a member of the 1st place Girl’s Open 400 Medley Relay. We wish MaryBeth the best when she leaves for SLU to start her freshman year.
-Elisa DeCaro returned to B-Finals in her 50 Free and 100 Back and A-Finals in her 100 Free and 200 Back.
-Claire Dierker returned to B-Finals in 3 events: 50 Free, 200 Free and 50 Breast. She was also a member of 3 relays that took Bronze: 11-12 Girls 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay. She also improved her Bonus time in the 400 Free to an actual Champs cut.
-Makaila Hayes returned to B-Finals in 1 event: 200 Breast and A-Finals in 5 events: 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 IM, 200 Free and 100 Fly. She was also a member of the 1st place Girl’s Open 400 Medley Relay and the bronze-winning Girl’s Open 200 Free and 400 Free Relays.
-Jakeb Kobs returned to B-Finals in the 50 Free and dropped enough time to turn his Bonus time into a Champs time
-Piper Kobs placed in the top 5 in 200 Fly and 200 Back and returned to A-Finals in 5 events: 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Fly and 50 Fly. She was also a member of 3 relays that took Bronze: 11-12 Girls 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay
-Jake Maiseroulle finished in the top 8 in 2 events: 50 Back and 100 Back and top 16 in 5 events: 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 400 Free and 200 IM.
-Jacey McGraw was the member of 2 relays that took Bronze: Girl’s Open 200 Free and 400 Free.
-Zach Mendez had a nice showing in some distance events: 12th in 400 Free, 10th in 800 Free and 5th in 1500 Free.
-Sarah Miner returned to B-Finals in 100 Breast and A-Finals in 5 events: 50 Free, 100 Back, 200 Back, 200 Breast and 200 Free. She swam to victory in the 1500 Free. Sarah was also a member of the 1st place Girl’s Open 400 Medley Relay and the bronze-winning Girl’s Open 200 Free and 400 Free Relays.
-Teagan Mitchell was a member of 3 relays that took Bronze: 11-12 Girls 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay
-Leo Nguyen finished in the top 8 in all 6 of his events, including 2 Bronzes in the 200 IM and 100 Fly. Leo was victorious in his 50 Fly – with a new team record of 35.66. Way to go Leo!
-Sean Nguyen returned to B-Finals in his 100 Free, 50 Breast and 100 Breast and competed in the A-Finals in 50 Free, 200 Free and 100 Back. His 4th place finish in the 50 Back earned him a new team record of 34.89. Awesome job, Sean!
-Emma Owen returned to B-Finals in her 200 Fly. We will miss Emma when she heads to Simpson College! Thanks for the memories, Emma!
-Clay Pilliard returned to B-Finals in his 100 Back
-Raphael Realina returned to B-Finals in 100 Breast and 200 IM and A-Finals in his 200 Breast.
-Kemper Roberts had some luck in the distance events: He finished in the top 16 in 5 events: 400 Free, 800 Free, 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 Breast. He entered the meet with a Champs-Bonus in his 800 Free and dropped enough time turn it into a Champs cut!
-Kennedy Roberts returned to B-Finals in 3 events: 50 Breast, 100 Back and 100 Breast and A-Finals in 50 Back. She was also a member of 3 relays that took Bronze: 11-12 Girls 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay. Kennedy’s lead-off leg of the 50 Free in the 200 Free Relay earned her a new Champs cut in that event!
-Jack Stanley returned to A-Finals in 100 Back.
-Hannah Stewart returned to B-Finals in 50 Free, 200 IM, 200 Free and 200 Breast and A-Finals in 100 Free. She was also a member of the 1st place Girl’s Open 400 Medley Relay and the bronze-winning Girl’s Open 200 Free and 400 Free Relays.
-Isaac Stewart had quite the meet! He returned to B-Finals in 100 Breast and A-Finals in 50 Free (2nd), 100 Free (3rd), 200 Free (2nd) and 50 Breast. He also finished 2nd in the 400 Free and Top 8 in the 200 Breast. He earned 3 (THREE!!!) new team records in the 50 Free, 200 Free and 400 Free. Wow! Way to go Isaac!
-Neil Williams finished in the Top 16 in his 50 Free
