NLU Sprint Decathlon Re-cap
It was a great first meet to kick off the 2022-2023 season! Thanks to all of our families who volunteered to help out at the NLU Sprint Decathlon! We had 100 swimmers earn 554 best times, 74 new District cuts, 17 new Champs cuts, 1 personal record and 1 relay record. It was also great to see 28 new Hammerheads compete in their first meet with NLU.

- Luke Bartels earned a new Districts cut in the 50 Fly.
-Noah Bernard swam to 2 District cuts in his first NLU meet: 50 Back and 100 Breast. He placed in the Top 8 for his efforts in the 100 Breast.
-Eden Bettis swam to victory in the 8&Under 50 Free and 50 Back.
-Nick Bracken grabbed a new District time in the 100 Breast and placed in the Top 8 in 7 of his 10 events. He was also in the record-breaking 15&Over Mixed Medley Relay.
-Mads Briggs earned a new District time in the 100 Fly and shaved over 16 seconds in her 200 IM.
-Logan Broek raced to a new 100 Free Districts time.
-Lucy Chute shaved over 35 seconds (!!!!!!!) in her 100 Breast and almost 9 in her 100 Back.
-Alexandra Claerhout Nuttall dropped over 15 seconds in her 100 Free.
-Maxen Claerhout Nuttall earned 4 new District cuts in the 50 Back, 50 Free (after an over 8 second shave!), 50 Fly and 100 Back (after a 14+ second shave!). He also dropped over 12 seconds in his 100 IM and over 14 seconds in his 100 Free.
-Nyema Clemons placed in the top 4 in both of her events and earned a Champs cut in her 50 Free.
-Isabelle Collop shaved over 14 seconds in her 50 Fly.
-Kiefer Conrad swam his first 50 Back and 50 Free.
-Elisa DeCaro picked up a new Districts time in her 100 Fly. She also placed in the top 4 in 4 of her events.
-Claire Dierker shaved over 12 seconds to secure a Districts time in the 200 IM. She also dropped 11 seconds in her 100 Fly and 100 Breast. Eight of her 10 events were Top 8 finishes.
-Mallory Dunaway swam her first 100 Fly and 200 IM and earned a new Districts time in the 100 Back.
-Natalie Dunaway dropped over 8 seconds in her 100 Back and 100 IM and over 12 in her 100 Fly. She now has Districts time in her 100 Fly, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 50 Free and 100 Free.
-Alex Foot swam to a new Districts time in 100 Fly
-Peyton Frost grabbed 2 new District cuts while swimming her first NLU meet: 100 Breast and 50 Breast.
-Asher Gellis dropped over 11 seconds to secure a new Districts time in 100 Back.
-Rowan Gellis dropped over 8 seconds in her 50 Fly and almost 19 in her 200 IM.
-Kylee Gray earned District times in the 100 Back and 100 Free.
-Kimberly Greene finished in the Top 8 in 3 of her events.
-Sophia Hall raced to 2 new District cuts in her first NLU meet: 100 Fly and 50 Fly.
-Gracie Hayes had herself a meet! She picked up 8 new District cuts after shaving ridiculous amounts of time in those events. Her new cuts include: 100 Fly, 50 Back, 100 Breast, 50 Free, 50 Fly, 100 Back, 50 Breast and 100 Free. Significant shaves include almost 20 seconds in 100 Fly, over 10 seconds in 100 Breast, over 12 in the 100 back and an outstanding 32 seconds in her 200 IM. She shaved over 122 seconds over the course of 2 days!
-Makaila Hayes earned the 1st Place trophy for the 13-14 Girls age group. She finished 1st and 2nd in all of her events.
-Findlay Hume finished Top 8 in 3 of his events.
-Jia Hurst picked up a new District time in the 200 IM and placed top 8 in the 50 Back.
-Henry Johnson shaved the most time in an individual event of any other Hammerhead – an incredible almost 37 seconds in his 100 Fly! He also dropped almost 9 seconds in his 100 IM. He also tried 200 IM for the first time.
-Evelyn Keane placed top 3 in her 50 Back and 50 Free.
-Grace Keane shaved over 8 seconds to earn a new Districts cut in her 50 Back. She also shaved over 15 seconds in her 50 Fly.
-Chase Kindle dropped almost 9 seconds in his 100 Breast and almost 23 seconds in his 200 IM.
-Jake Kobs picked up Districts times in all 10 Decathlon events and placed top 8 in all, as well. He earned the 3rd Place trophy for 15&Over Boys. He was also in the record-breaking 15&Over Mixed Medley Relay.
-Piper Kobs picked up 8 new Champs times and 2 new Districts time for all of her Decathlon events. She also placed in the top 8 in 8 of her events and picked up the 3rd Place trophy for 11-12 Girls.
-Julian Locke punched his ticket to Districts in the 100 Breast and 50 Breast at his first NLU meet.
-Jake Maiseroulle shaved almost 12 seconds in his 50 Fly to pick up a Districts time. He also shaved over 12 seconds in his 100 Fly. He also tried 200 IM for the first time.
-Jacey McGraw placed in the Top 8 in 6 of her events.
-Kian McHugh tried 3 new events: 100 Fly, 100 Back and 200 IM. He placed Top 8 in his 100 Fly and shaved almost 9 seconds in his 100 Breast.
-Gabe Meitler now has 5 new Districts cuts: 50 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 50 Breast and 100 Free. He did some serious shaving this weekend – over 9 seconds in his 100 Fly and 100 IM and over 23 in his 200 IM.
-Zach Mendez finished in the Top 8 in 5 of his events. He also dropped over 10 seconds in his 100 IM.
-Sarah Miner took home the 2nd Place 13-14 Girls trophy after her 10 Top 4 swims – 3 of which were victories! She was also in the record-breaking 15&Over Mixed Medley Relay.
-Teagan Mitchell placed in the Top 8 in 7 of her events and earned a Champs cut in her 100 Free. She dropped almost 9 seconds in her 200 IM.
-Leo Nguyen picked up the 1st Place trophy for 9-10 Boys after he swam to Top 3 in all of his Decathlon events. He was victorious in 50 Back, 50 Fly and 200 IM.
-Sean Nguyen earned the 2nd Place trophy for 11-12 Boys. He earned 4 new Champs cuts: 100 Fly, 100 Breast, 100 Back and 50 Breast. All of his swims finished in the Top 5.
-Brooke Nichols finished in the Top 8 in 3 of her events: 50 Breast, 100 Free and 200 IM (new Districts time!)
-Brady Poss, one of the new Hammerheads, earned a Districts time in the 50 Fly.
-Zoe Prado earned 5 new Districts cuts: 50 Back, 50 Free, 50 Fly, 100 Back and 100 Free. Her 100 Free finished in the Top 8.
-Molly Purinton earned a Districts time in the 100 Breast.
-Melanie Puszczak placed in the Top 8 in 50 Breast.
-Rainier Realina placed in the Top 8 in 3 events after significant shaves in the 200 IM and 100 Back.
-Ellie Reece picked up 2 District cuts in 100 Fly and 50 Free in her first meet for NLU.
-Avery Reed qualified for Districts in 100 Back in her first meet as a Hammerhead.
-Kemper Roberts has a shiny new 1st Place trophy for the 13-14 Boys. He grabbed a Champs cut in the 100 Breast, placed in the Top 8 in all events and set the team record for 50 Breast 13-14 Boys.
-Kennedy Roberts shaved over 12 seconds in her 100 Fly, grabbed a new Districts cut in the 200 IM and placed in the Top 8 in 7 of her events.
-Kieran Ross swam his first 100 Fly and picked up a District cut while doing so. He also swam his first 200 IM and placed Top 8 in the 50 Breast.
-Camille Schear earned the 2nd Place trophy for the 15&Over Girls after placing in the Top 5 in all 10 of her events. She was also in the record-breaking 15&Over Mixed Medley Relay.
-Ruby Sharp picked up 2 new District cuts in the 50 Free and 100 Free in her first meet for NLU.
-Breckyn Shaw swam her first 100 Fly and shaved over 10 seconds in her 200 IM.
-Philip Shekleton shaved over 11 seconds in his 100 IM and swam his first 200 IM.
-Anderson Sibley swam his first 200 IM
-Kai Soo swam to Top 8 in 2 of his events.
-Hannah Stewart was victorious with a 1st Place trophy for the 15&Over Girls after she placed in the Top 6 in all of her events and won the 200 IM.
-Isaac Stewart has a new Districts cut in 100 Fly after shaving over 18 seconds! He also has 3 new Champs cuts in the 50 Back, 100 Back and 200 IM (after a 16 second shave!) He placed in the Top 8 in all 10 of his events.
-Mizzou Thai swam his first 100 Fly and shaved over 18 seconds in the 100 Breast.
-Makenna Toyne won the 8&Under Girls 2nd Place trophy! She swam to the Top 4 in all of her events.
-Karder Walburn earned a new Districts cut in the 50 Fly.
-Neil Williams shaved over 23 seconds in his 100 Fly and over 33 seconds in his 200 IM. He also earned a new Districts cut in the 100 Back and placed in the Top 8 in 6 of his events.
