Tsunami Round-Up Re-cap

Rebecca Lewis

Before we get to the re-cap of the Tsunami Round-Up, we want to bring attention to a few things regarding time standards.  The Decathlon results were processed before the new time standards for Age Groups (10&Under, 11-12 and 13-14) were pushed to the teams by Missouri Valley. Therefore, there were kids who had district or champs cuts according to the old standards but no longer have those cuts. The bulletin board in the aquatic center lobby now has the most up to date qualifications of each swimmer. When a swimmer ages up (ie: turns 11, 13 or 15) they need to meet the next level of qualifications before they can compete at Districts or Champs in the spring. We will remove their tag from the bulletin board and update with a new age-group tag if they have achieved a time in their new age group.

To the parents of our 15 & Over Swimmers: Just this past week, Missouri Valley released their “Senior” time standards (formerly called “Open”.) The biggest change in this age group, is they are no longer offering a Districts meet for this age. All qualifying times will be considered “Senior Champs” times. For example, the old qualifying time for Districts for 15&Over Girls 50 Free was 32.49. Now that same time of 32.49 is the new qualifying time for this new Senior Champs meet. The only thing that changed is 15&Overs will all be at one meet only.

Due to the Blue Wave October Invitational times not loaded into the system before the Tsunami meet, Meet Mobile may reflect a larger drop or add than the actual results because the seed times were old. Please keep this in mind when reading the highlights below.

New times standards for the 14 & Unders can be found here and the time standards for the Senior Group can be found here.

We know that this can be confusing, so please reach out to your swimmer’s coach via email.

Now on to the highlights!!!!

NLU was represented by 46 swimmers at the Tusnami Annual Fall Round-Up in Gladstone, October 14-16. There were 147 Best Times, 9 new District cuts, 11 Champs Bonus cuts, 6 new Champs cuts and 22 new Senior Champs cuts.
