MV Short Course Central Districts Re-cap

Unbelievable! The 14&Under Hammerheads raced their hearts out at the MV Short Course Central Districts meet in Topeka February 10-12. They finished 3rd overall and there were 206 best times among only 35 swimmers! They picked up 17 new District cuts, 10 Champs-Bonus cuts and 29 new Champs cuts. The Top 8 returned to Finals and with the top 2 eligible to move on to Champs. On to the highlights…

Notable Swims

-Madeline Briggs earned a new District cut in 50 Free.

-Logan Broek picked up a new District cut in 50 Fly and shaved over 7.5 seconds in his 100 IM.

-Claire Conrad dazzled the crowd with some amazing time drops: 7 seconds in the 100 Free for a new District cut, over 9 seconds in the 100 Breast to grab a Bonus cut, over 14 seconds in her 100 Back, and 14 seconds in her 200 Breast for another Bonus cut. She returned to Finals in 100 Breast and 200 Breast.

-Alex Foot returned to Finals in all 6 of his events: 100 Fly, 100 Free, 200 Back, 50 Free, 100 Back and 200 Free. He shaved over 10 seconds in his 200 Back to earn a Bonus cut and picked up additional Bonuses in 100 Free and 200 Free. He finished 2nd in 50 Free which will take him on to Champs!

-Rowan Gellis dropped over 13 seconds in her 200 Breast at Finals to grab a Bonus cut. She also earned a Bonus cut in her 100 Breast race at Finals.

-Noah Greenlee picked up 2 new Districts times: 50 Back and 50 Free. He shaved over 7 seconds in his 100 Back and returned to Finals in 50 Breast.

-Sophia Hall returned to Finals and picked up Bonus cuts in 100 Fly and 50 Fly. She also grabbed a District cut in 50 Back.

-Gracie Hayes shaved over 9 seconds in her 200 Breast and competed at Finals in both 100 Breast and 200 IM.

-Jia Hurst competed in Finals in 100 Fly, 200 Back, and 50 Free (new District cut!) She also finished in the top 2 in 100 Back and 200 Free which qualifies her for Champs in those events.

-Henry Johnson picked up a new District cut in 100 Fly.

-Grace Keane earned a new District cut in 100 Free.

-Chase Kindle swam again at Finals in 100 IM, 50 Back and 100 Back (new Bonus cut after an over 10 second shave!) He also earned a District cut in 50 Fly.

-Julian Locke returned to Finals in 100 Breast and not only placed 2nd but improved his time to a Champs cut in that event. He also earned a District time in 200 Free.

-Harmony Lucas started the meet as the Champion of the 11-12 girls 200 IM. She also picked up a new Champs cut in 100 Fly after an over 9 second drop and win in that event. She also improved her 100 Free and 100 IM times to a Champs cut after her finals swim. The last day brought her 2 more Champs cuts in 50 Free (1st place!) and 100 Back (2nd place!)

-Jake Maiseroulle returned to Finals in all 6 of his events: 100 Free (new Bonus cut), 100 Breast, 100 IM (2nd place AND Champs cut), 50 Free, 100 Back (2nd place AND Champs cut) and 50 Breast.

-Kian McHugh swam 100 Fly at Districts as a bonus swim and not only was he victorious in that event, but he shaved almost 10 seconds and bypassed the District and Bonus cut to earn his first Champs cut! He also returned to Finals in 50 Fly to earn a Bonus cut.

-Neala McHugh had herself quite the meet. She started the meet with an over 24 seconds shave in the 500 Free to not only claim a Champs time but victory! The rest of the meet brought her 6 new Champs cuts: 100 Free (1st!), 100 IM (2nd), 50 Back (2nd), 50 Free, 100 Back and 50 Fly (1st!)

-Tavin Nachlinger is the proud owner of his first Champs cut after his lead-off in the 200 Free Relay. He returned to Finals in 100 Free (new Bonus cut), 50 Free (2nd place!), 200 Free (new District time) and 50 Fly (2nd place and Bonus cut)

-Leo Nguyen returned to Finals in all 6 of his events: 100 Free (new Bonus time), 100 Breast (1st place & Champs cut!), 50 Back (2nd place so he moves on to Champs), 50 Free, 100 Back (1st place & Champs cut!) and 50 Breast.

-Sean Nguyen also returned to Finals in all 6 of his events: 100 Free (new Champs cut and 2nd place), 100 Breast, 200 IM, 50 Free (1st place & new Champs cut), 100 Back (2nd place so he moves on to Champs) and 200 Free.

-Brady Poss raced to not only a victory in the 50 Free, but also his first Champs time! He also returned to Finals in his 50 Fly.

-Zoe Prado dropped over 10 seconds to claim victory her first Champs time in her 200 Free. She also returned to finals in 100 Free and 50 Free (2nd place AND new Champs time.) She also earned a new District time in 100 IM.

-Molly Purinton returned to Finals in 100 Fly and 200 IM.

-Rainier Realina also earned his first Champs time after his 2nd place finish at Finals in 50 Breast. He also returned to Finals in 100 Breast and 100 IM (new Bonus cut!)

-Ellie Reece upgraded her 50 Fly time to a Bonus cut.

-Kieran Ross dropped almost 12 seconds in his 200 Breast to return to Finals and grab a District time. He also returned to Finals in 100 Fly.

-Avery Tipton returned to Finals in 50 Breast.

-Makenna Toyne earned a new District cut in her 50 Back.

-Karder Walburn was first to the wall in the Finals of the 50 Fly and earned his first Champs time! He also returned to Finals in the 100 IM and grabbed a new District cut in 50 Free.

-Neil Williams picked up the 200 IM as a bonus swim and wowed the crowd with an over 25 second drop to not only claim victory but he bypassed the District and Bonus time standards to earn a Champs time! He returned to Finals and claimed Victory and a new Champs cut in the 100 Breast (11 second drop!) and 50 Breast. His 2nd place finish in the 100 IM earns him a spot at Champs and his over 11 second drop in the 100 Back earned him a Champs cut and 2nd place. He also picked up a District cut in the 50 Back.

-Jacob Zupan returned to Finals in 100 Breast and 200 IM. He picked up a District time in the 100 Free.
